Don’t know what to do with your SingapoRediscovers Vouchers? Give them away
We’re fast approaching June and that means one thing: Your SingapoRediscovers Vouchers (SRVs) are going to expire.
All Singapore citizens over the age of 18 would have received $100 in vouchers to spend on hotels, tours and attractions in Singapore.
You’d think Singaporeans go crazy over free stuff – $100 free credits leh! – but surprisingly, only around a quarter of the budget set aside for SRVs has been redeemed as of March 1, 2021.
Perhaps nothing interesting caught your eye. Maybe you think it’s too much of a hassle to use the vouchers. Or you’re not based in Singapore at the moment.
Whatever the reason, if you have yet to use your SRVs or haven’t spent all of it, why not donate them for a good cause instead?
WHAT CAN YOU BUY?
From activities for migrant workers to people with disabilities, here are a few ways you can make these happen!
1. Fun at Jewel for less-privileged children
How about treating children and youths from low-income families with a half-day trip to Jewel Changi Airport?
Priced at $30, the Klook Cares package in collaboration with Beyond Social Services includes an admission ticket to Canopy Park and Changi Experience Studio. Participants will also be given a bento meal, photo print voucher and a souvenir.
2. River Safari experience for youths at risk
Alternatively, you could sponsor a young person with an outing to River Safari.
As someone who has recently been there, I have to say that it was a great experience, and I can see how enjoyable it would be for the youths under CARE Singapore. Offered through Trip.com’s Pay It Forward programme, each ticket costs $34.20.
3. A trip on Singapore Flyer for migrant workers
Isn’t it meaningful to be able to show migrant workers the skyline that they have helped built?
With your $100 SRV and a top-up of $5, you could pay for three admission tickets for migrant workers to ride the Singapore Flyer for 30 minutes.
An initiative of ItsRainingRaincoats, this can be booked on Klook.
4. Walking tours around Singapore
Organised by Ray of Hope, you can now sponsor someone to literally rediscover Singapore as they tour around Singapore River, Telok Ayer or Balestier. Prices range from $39.95 to $47 depending on the ticket you’ve selected.
5. A day of adventure at USS
One of Singapore’s top attractions, Universal Studios Singapore (USS) will definitely be a treat for young and old alike. Give someone a time of their lives at $66 per ticket.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
To donate an experience with your SRVs, all you need is to select and pay for the attraction using the SRV option before June 30, 2021 and voila, the partnering charity organisation will organise the tour from there.
Not only will donating your SRVs bless others in Singapore, it also helps to boost the local tourism sector. Let’s chip in to make this a win-win situation!
P.S. Want to donate but ran out of SRVs? No worries, you can also buy tickets using your own money.
